Q: Why aren’t there any men in the company?

A: Why aren’t there any women in the Rolling Stones? There just aren’t.

Q: Why aren’t there any mirrors in the LAVA studio?

A: Dancing feels good. If it feels good it looks good. No mirror necessary.

Q: How do you do that [trick, stunt, feat....}

A: Same way you get to Carnegie Hall: PRACTICE. Aka commitment, dedication, devotion, joy, repetition, courage, focus and love!

Q: Can you teach me to do it?

A: If given the chance to meet:  yes!  If not, we are making a workshop guide that can give you the tools to learn with your own community. Join our mailing list to find out when it becomes available!

Q: Will you come to my town to teach and perform?

A: You bet! Email us to get the ball rolling: info@lavabrooklyn.org

Q: How do I audition for the company?

A: If you're interested, please email us at: info@lavabrooklyn.org and we'll let you know!

Q: Can I write you a fan letter?

A: Of course! Mail us at: 524 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217

Q: How long does it take you to create a new show?

A: Anywhere from 6 months to 2 years…plus a lifetime of commitment!

Q: Isn’t feminism over? Wasn’t it some kind of 70s thing?

A: Feminism predates ancient Greece. In this country the first wave began in the 19th century. We’ll be “done” as soon as the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes is no longer a theory...

Q: Why not “humanism” or “egalitarianism”?

A: Because those other words are about how everyone is equal – they do not actively advocate for gender equality. Feminism unabashedly states that the gender being denied personhood and subjected to oppression is female.

Q: So do you hate men?

A: No!
